DSCN1057.JPGI really like the Super Bowl. It is hard when your team is not in it but what a game last night. My congrats to both teams - they were awesome and the ending was incredible. But even when the game doesn't live up to its hype, there is something about the event that seems special. For me this year it was watching with my kids. Cuddled up under blankets , laughing and enjoying our time. I remember watching with my dad and feeling that closeness that sons and fathers get around sharing a game together. And I also enjoy watching teams working together. This year I was impressed also with what Mike Tomlin coach of the Steelers said after their win,"...we are a 60 minute football team, we go all the way to the end..." It made me think of our school.

For 3 hours each Sunday my team teachers and parent volunteers give a full game's worth of energy. They work together and support each other and I am so proud of all of them. We are very lucky to have such a team. They have been always a 3 hour team and I appreciate that so profoundly.

Be well,

Rabbi David Burstein

Spotlight on High School

On the day of Super Sunday here is how our high school students spend
their monthly times. Prior to the elections in November, we tackled the
issue of how the candidates represented and supported Judaism and Jewish
values. We then in December had a class on living an intentional and
spiritual Jewish life in honor of the theme of rededication and Hanukah.

After a short break we returned last Saturday to watch the movie Defiance,
the moving and well-made depiction of the Jewish partisan group in
Belarus led by the Bielski brothers. It was fantastic and a great time.
Moving forward we are beginning to prepare for our retreat on May 1-3.
