Temple Beth Or Education

Rabbi's Remarks

As some of you know we have reinstated our early meeting from 9:30-9:45am on Sundays. All are welcome and they are exciting, educational and spirited. Each morning we gather in Levin Hall and start by singing songs with Larry Frank, our trusted songleader. Your kids are learning different songs each morning and some old regulars such as Modeh Ani and Love Adonai Your God. Then we look at a website called G-DCAST. This site teaches the portion of the week from the Torah in an interactive and fun format.

It is so important that our students get Torah each week and that they feel that it is relevant to their lives. Feel free to ask them about the movie.

Be well,
Rabbi David

A new way to give Tzedakah

Help a child in need this holiday season.

Child-to-Child is a program run by the Greene County United Way in which TBO families can sponsor a local needy child (or more) for holiday gift giving. Information about the gender and age of the child will be provided and sponsors are asked to purchase 5 or 6 gifts per child. Wrapped gifts can be dropped off at Greene County United Way by December 21 or, in some cases, arrangements can be made with the United Way for individual TBO families to deliver directly to the recipients. In you are interested, the application is available for download or you can direct questions to Meg Gillis at maryg@dayton-unitedway.org Applications are due NO LATER THAN NOV 15, 2011.

Cookie Dough Sale Extended!

You now have until October 30th to order!

Cookie dough sale order forms and checks are due by this Sunday. Please ask your friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors to buy cookie dough! The more boxes we sell, the higher the percentage of sales that we get for the temple. If they don't want the cookie dough in their house, we'll donate it to local food banks-- helps our temple and helps local charities! Want to order or have questions, please contact Deb Char 657-8395 or DLCHAR@woh.rr.com, or Jenifer Mader 878-0448.

Volunteers needed!

Help is needed Sunday mornings!

Here are some odd jobs that we could use your help getting done:

  • A camera parent to take pictures of our students in action on Sunday mornings
  • Someone to help shelve books in the TBO library
  • Some folks to help organize the resource room
If you are willing and able to help Sunday mornings please let Melissa Guadalupe know at school or by email at melissalg99@yahoo.com .

Thank you! Our religious school is awesome because we have awesome parents!
